The Indians who live high in the Andes stem from the once powerful Incas. However, today they are seen a an "unimportant" people living far away in the mountains. They are discriminated against and they always come in last place. HoPe uses its resources to help these people improve their living situation.
The highland Indian culture is hundreds of years old. Already in the time of the Incas the men wore the now traditional red ponchos and the typical Peruvian hat with ear flaps and the women wore red drapes. The people of the Andes are still speaking the Inca language, "Quechua".
