Running for HoPe
113 km for food security and education in Peru
Engadin Ultra Trail 53 km in Switzerland and the UTMB OCC 60 km around Mont Blanc.
Together, these races total approximately 113 kilometers through the mountains. I want to give these races a deeper purpose by turning every kilometer into support for children, families, and schools in rural Andean communities in Peru.
Why am I running
I run because I love the mountains and the challenge. This year, I want that effort to carry more meaning. As a Peruvian living in the Netherlands and someone involved with HoPe, I find this cause meaningful. HoPe (Holland-Peru) works with communities in Cusco to support education, wellbeing, nutrition, and sustainable development.
Food security helps children learn
HoPe’s food-security work supports vegetable production in schools, in partnership with students, parents, and teachers. The vegetables are used directly for school lunches, and growing food becomes part of the learning process itself.
